Acacia House by Earth Tek Construction | San Diego Landscape Photography

No matter how many years I spend as a residential photographer, I am always amazed by how stunning an exterior can look. While some homes focus more of colors and finishes, my project with Earth Tek Construction wanted the photoshoot to center around their stunning landscaping.

While this home is in sunny California, the beautiful outdoors transports anyone to an oasis in the jungle. These photos will not just be used to advertise the stunning home amenities, but to showcase the work Earth Tek Construction can provide to their clients!

How I Planned This Landscape Photography Shoot

Landscape Photography Of Entryway Door And Jungle Plants

Landscape photography is an all-outdoor photo shoot, so working with lighting is crucial. For the entire exterior, I wanted a combination of both natural and low light to truly mimic the secluded jungle feel that occurs when stepping foot on the property.

To achieve this, I planned the session to occur in the early to mid morning, while the sun did not shine too harshly. Not only was the landscape the subject, but it also provided a lot of excellent shade to work with.

Whenever asked to specifically work on landscape photography, I’m thrilled! Although it’s not as common as typical residential sessions, being able to shoot outdoors is one of my favorite aspects of being a photographer.

Landscape As The Focal Point

Earth Tek Construction worked tirelessly to create the feeling of a growing jungle within a single backyard, so I wanted to make sure each photo captured the rich colors of the plants.

Landscape Photography Showcasing Lighter Green Plants

For shooting brighter greens, such as grass or trees, I opted for more light in each photo. The lack of shadows created a feeling of warmth that I knew both the client and their customers would love.

Landscape Photography Using Close Up Angles To Highlight Darker Greens

As for darker greens, I wanted lower lighting to really emphasize the rich tones. I loved how when in the shade, the flowers would pop even more next to such a deep green background.

In terms of angles, I did a lot of close-up shots. While I love the complete jungle look from afar, looking at all the details for each plant truly emphasizes how much love went into this construction project.

Highlighting The Outdoor Elements

The beautiful plants outside the home are already stunning on their own, but including outdoor elements turned the exterior into an oasis. Photographing the outdoor shower, courtyard, and dining table were extremely important in terms of highlighting just how customizable hiring my client can be.

Landscape Photography Highlighting Outdoor Dining Table With Jungle Plants

No matter which element I shot, I wanted landscape photography to still be present. At the very start of the session, I was drawn to the inviting nature of the dining room table. This felt like the perfect place to start! With the lighting still picking up quite softly, I was able to capture the beautiful light blue sky and the deeper green foliage.

Next, I worked on shooting the shower. What I loved most about this space in the exterior was how concealed it was from the rest of the backyard. Combined with darker lighting, it felt like a personal jungle escape.

Landscape Photography Of Outdoor Courtyard

Lastly, I worked on capturing the beauty of the courtyard. The lush green grass and tall bushes provided an inviting and quiet space. I really loved capturing this area both straight-on and angled from the side to emphasize how large the entire area was.

Working with Earth Tek Construction was an absolute pleasure and a fun challenge to my landscape photography experience. If you’re interested in photographing your next residential project, please don’t hesitate to reach out using the link below!
