Ferring Pharmaceuticals | Healthcare Commercial Photography In San Diego
When reflecting on all the projects I’ve ever been a part of, healthcare commercial photography has a special place in my heart. There is nothing quite like showcasing a space designed with so much thought in mind. Working with DGA Architects and Project Management Advisors was no different!
The goal of this shoot was to capture the warmth and life deliberately brought into each area of the space, from the laboratories, to the common areas and even down to the little details of the bathrooms.
How I Planned This Healthcare Commercial Photography Shoot
From the very moment we started to plan this shoot, the most important objective was capturing the space as a whole, showcasing how the different areas interact and intertwine with one another. My clients worked incredibly hard to create each area of the project, so I wanted to make sure every shot was intentional to showcase their work.
The second objective was to make sure the details built into each space were highlighted. Although many commercial spaces can easily feel cold, the design of this space incorporated small elements that make a big impact.
While no healthcare commercial shoot is the same, I was really excited to jump in and see what the end result would look like!
Showcasing The Stunning Entryway
While every space in this shoot was photogenic, the entryway stole the entire show. High ceilings and bright lighting are every photographer’s dream, so I wanted to make sure to capitalize on it with the correct angles. Shooting vertically at a corner proved to be the best way to feature everything within one shot.
There are blue and green tones present throughout the entire space, but the modern installation of hanging plants displays it best. I continuously monitored the lighting to ensure the richness in colors was present in every shot. This is truly one of the most beautiful entryways I’ve ever been able to capture.
Highlighting Warm Tones
Throughout the entire building, the blue and green are complimented with the most beautiful light wood accents. My favorite place where this was present proved to be in the break room. To make sure I highlighted both the rich cabinets and overhead lights, as well as the entryway into the space, I shot from the far corner looking back towards the kitchen.
Oftentimes spaces like this are difficult to capture, but my expertise in commercial photography makes the small details truly pop.
Focusing On Bringing Life Inside
What I loved most about this entire building was the intentional merging of the outdoors with spaces that could feel dull. When tasked with showcasing the conference room, I wanted to make the life outside feel just as present indoors.
Haley’s Pro Tip: Don’t be afraid to add in extra greenery when necessary! The lush plants and rolling hills outside did not pick up when shooting the conference room alone. By bringing in a lush centerpiece, I was able to create a shot that truly captures the serenity of the outdoors present in this space.
Shooting The High Tech Lab Space
The most important space to capture throughout the entire building is the open-concept lab space. Unlike many other labs I’ve shot, DGA brought in color! I was so excited to see the subtle pops throughout the space, so I made sure to use a wide angle to highlight all the details.
Oftentimes we consider labs to be sterile or cold, so it was important to me as a healthcare commercial photographer to do the exact opposite. Combining a slightly darker light with the rich blue walls, it turned out to be the perfect shot! It truly was such a pleasure to photograph Ferring Pharmaceuticals and capture the incredible work by my clients!
