Hyatt Regency Orange County | Los Angeles Hotel Photography
No matter how many hotel photography sessions I shoot, there is always something special about it. I love bringing to life all the hospitality details created specifically for guests in mind. The care displayed just shines through the camera!
The Hyatt Regency in Orange County wanted these photos to emphasize the welcoming experience every guest receives, from hotel suites to event spaces. Together, we were able to perfectly portray the stress-free experience they work so hard to deliver!
How I Planned The Hyatt Hotel’s Photoshoot
There are two focuses within the Hyatt hotel photoshoot: capturing the hotel suite amenities and spaces guests can rent. While both are unique in their own ways, I wanted the luxury service to be evident in every photo.
Bright lighting and classic angles ensure the true star of every photo is the amenities present. I wanted a mixture of both straight-on and corner shots to create visual interest, while still not taking away from anything of the details.
While this may sound simple in theory, every hotel photography session has its own challenges. Bringing my experience and quick thinking ensures the client’s needs are met every time!
Capturing The Hotel’s Suite
For their suites, the main goal was to capture each of the different rooms within the suites, such as the bedrooms, living areas, and bathrooms. No matter what room the photo is showcasing, I wanted the overall feel to be welcoming and comfortable.
Softer lighting proved to work best to capture the suite. After so many years photographing hotels, I prioritize keeping the lighting consistent within one space to create a more realistic view for potential customers.
When photographing the hallways leading to each suite, I loved the bright lighting that was present. So often hallways can feel cramped, but this felt like a breath of fresh air for guests to feel serene when getting settled.
Emphasizing Options For Event Spaces
When it comes to event spaces, I wanted each photo to showcase the wide selection available. The Hyatt has great options to fit both big and small events, so I knew capturing their true size would be important.
For the larger spaces, bright lighting and corner angles worked perfectly to highlight what a potential event would be able to work with. The neutral tables and chairs, combined with the fun pop of the carpeting, provided a lot of interest visually.
As for the smaller spaces, I wanted potential events to feel intimate rather than echoing. Similar to the approach for photographing the suites, I used more muted lighting to allow for the space to feel comfortable.
No matter the event, having an experienced hospitality photographer will ensure both future guests and businesses see the potential in each hotel.
Bringing Life Into Meeting Spaces
My top priority when photographing meeting spaces is to bring a sense of life into the room. Often meetings can be viewed as dull or stressful, so as the photographer I want to capture a feeling of calm.
My favorite way to do this is by shooting with straight-on angles. It provides a symmetric view of the space that is visually appealing without being overwhelming. If the still feels a bit stagnant, I like to stage the area in a way that feels natural to how it would look in real life.
Haley’s Pro Tip: Staging is crucial to visualize how a meeting space can be used. This room came pre-staged with notepads, pens, and apples, but I love bringing it additional elements. Adding fresh flowers can really make a space pop, so bouquets are a stunning touch!
