Moroccan Inspired Interior Design | Violet Ridge by JG Color Studios

Stepping into a remodeled home for the first time is one of my favorite experiences as an interior photographer. I step in looking around as if I’ve been the luckiest recipient on Fixer Upper. My eyes light as the shot list I’ve been planning for weeks finally comes to life in front of me. This Moroccan-inspired residential interior design was one I’ll never forget.

Today on the blog, I’m sharing a recent photoshoot of Violet Ridge, an interior home remodel and design project by my client, JG Color Studios. This project was something special, as it was designed to have a coastal Moroccan feel, and let me tell you, the results are breathtaking!

My interior photography equipment used:

For most of my interior photography shots, I lean on my Canon 24mm Tilt Shift because it captures the most beautiful images at the perfect angle. For detail shots and smaller vignettes, I bring out my handheld Fuji camera to bring out texture and tones.

Of course, I also bring my custom lighting setup for each space that I shoot, ensuring that the light is even and complimenting the space as the light changes throughout the day.

Let’s start at the beginning, shall we?

We have to start at the beginning with the most breathtaking entryway of Violet Ridge. The entry is the first thing anyone sees when they walk into a home, and JG Color Studios knocked it out of the park. The high ceilings immediately set the tone for the rest of the home, and the huge blue beaded chandelier is a showstopper. The use of color and lighting in the entryway gives you a sneak peek of the coastal Moroccan vibe that is carried throughout the home.

Next, I photographed the living room. The heart of Violet Ridge is in this space, so JG Color Studios made sure it was comfortable, inviting, and functional. The beautiful built-in bookshelves on either side of the fireplace are the perfect touch to make the space feel cozy and warm while giving an opportunity to add a level of detail that is truly unmatched. And let's not forget about the fireplace! It serves the perfect interior photography focal point and surrounded by the bookshelves, it makes the perfect spot for reading, relaxing, or entertaining.

The Dining Room + Kitchen Reveal

The dining room is where we really got to see the magic of JG Color Studios. The gilded gold ceiling is an absolute masterpiece, and the pendant lights hanging above the massive wood table add the perfect touch of elegance and sophistication. The table itself is big enough to seat a large group of friends and family, making it the perfect space for entertaining.

But, drumroll please... my favorite part of the photoshoot was the kitchen! I'm a huge fan of open concept kitchens with great counter space and a huge island, and this one did not disappoint. The little nook with a kitchen table and the oyster shell pendant light above it is so cute, it just adds to the coziness of the space. The pops of blue and teal throughout the kitchen make it feel bright and cheerful, and the reading/sitting nook with the cool coffee table is the perfect spot to relax and unwind. And can we talk about the door in the nook? It came all the way from Morocco and is a statement piece that just adds to the coastal Moroccan feel of the home.

My Interior Photography Process:

When I’m photographing a home of this size and beauty, my goal is to capture more than just each room, but each design moment as we experienced it during our walkthrough. It’s the corners, the details, the vignettes that take a home from good to great - and this project had them everywhere you turned. It was an honor to capture them in a unique and special way!

From the entryway with its high ceilings and blue beaded chandelier, to the living room with its built-in bookshelves and fireplace, to the dining room with its gilded gold ceiling and pendant lights, and the kitchen with its open concept and pops of color, every space in the home was designed to be functional, beautiful, and inviting. Working the JG Color Studio team on photographing Violet Ridge was an amazing start to 2023. They did an incredible job on this project, and I can't wait to see what they come up with next!
